Week of May 8th
Greetings Families,
Your child is hard at work on their Exhibition project. Remember, Exhibition is the 5th grade Primary Years Programme experience that helps kids to reflect on all they've learned in the PYP and celebrate their transition from the PYP to the Middle Years Programme. We look forward to sharing our work on May 18, 6 -8 pm. Please mark your calendars to celebrate our 5th grade learners!
Wednesday 5/9 Scarlett Transition Day
This Wednesday we will be venturing across the parking lot to learn more about the middle school experience. Please make sure to have your child return their signed permission slip to school promptly!
Also, we are ready for those baby pics! Please send in a photograph of your fifth grader as a baby -- the younger, the better! You can email photos or send them in with your child. I'll scan any photos I receive and send the originals home the same day they come in. Thanks in advance!

Week of April 24
Your child is working hard on the project for the PYP Exhibition that will take place May 18th at 6pm. Mark your calendars for this night to celebrate your child's learning in the Primary Years Programme here at Mitchell Elementary!
Tomorrow April 25th is our field trip to 826MI and the AADL. If your child has a library card they are welcome to bring it with them to check out two books.
Baby Pictures!
We like to end the school year with a tribute to the fifth graders who will be leaving Mitchell by displaying baby pictures of them in the main lobby showcase. Please send in a photograph of your fifth grader as a baby -- the younger, the better! You can email photos or send them in with your child. I'll scan any photos I receive and send the originals home the same day they come in. Thanks in advance!

Week of April 17th
Greetings Families,
I hope you had an opportunity to get outside and enjoy some sunshine this weekend! The last few weeks have been incredibly busy in our classroom. As we begin digging into the work of Exhibition, we have participated in field trips to learn more about different ways in which people communicate their beliefs, values, and ideas. We visited Google to learn about technology, attended a UMS performance by DahkaBrahka to notice music and dance as communication. Finally, next week we will be attending a field trip to 826MI and the Ann Arbor District Library to learn from writers and storytellers.
All 5th graders began MSTEP testing last week. Each student showed commitment and perseverance to do their best! Last week we completed the testing for English Language Arts, this week will take the mathematics MSTEP on Wednesday and Thursday morning. Please ensure your child arrives to school on time as we begin testing at 9am. Finally, on Wednesday 4/26 we will complete the MSTEP testing with the final test for social studies.
Below is the plan for this week. Please note the work the kids will be doing for Exhibition this week. The evening home study period is an excellent opportunity for kids to dig deeper into their research!

Report Letters not until Tuesday 3/14
Good Evening Families,
I am posting to let you know that your child's report letter will go home on Tuesday 3/14 instead of Monday 3/13. I just found out I need to travel this weekend to be with my family in Illinois. I'm sorry for any inconvenience. I will return to school on Tuesday morning and have report letters ready to go home.
Thank you for your understanding. It is important to me to be with my family at this time.
