Week of February 23rd

Welcome Back!

I hope you and your families had a relaxing and warm winter break!  It seems the cold temperatures are going to stick around for awhile.  Just a reminder that we follow the AAPS cold weather policy which states children will not be going outside for recess with the temperature reaches 0 degrees fahrenheit.  When the temperature is above that, we will go outside.  Please help your child be dressed for the weather with warm coats, snowpants, hats, gloves, and boots.

Thursday 2/26 6:30-7:00 p.m.  Community Action Network Homework Diner

Friday 2/27 9:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Field Trip 826 Michigan and the Ann Arbor District Library
On Friday we will visit 826 Michigan to learn about different kinds of poetry.  We will eat lunch at 826 before walking a few short blocks to the downtown branch of the Ann Arbor District Library.  There we will experience storytelling with Laura Raynor as well as learn more about the resources available at the library.  If you child already has a library card they may bring it to check out two books on Friday.  If your does not have a library card an application will be sent home after the trip Friday.  It can be returned to any branch of the AADL.  Parents are welcome and encouraged to join us on this trip.

Parent Involvement Day

Week of February 9th

Our trip the the planetarium will take place this Tuesday, February 10th.  If you plan to ride the bus with your child please note the bus will leave Mitchell school at 9:55 a.m.

Recently children have been complaining they are cold in the classroom.  Please remind your child to dress appropriately for the weather, in layers works best.  Long sleeves and sweatshirts are a must at this time of year.  If your child does not bring their boots to school please consider sending dry socks.

We will have a short Valentine's Day celebration at the end of the day on Friday.  If your child would like to bring Valentine's please make sure s/he brings enough for the whole class.  We will decorate bags to collect Valentine's in during the day.  I will provide a snack for our celebration.
