Week of March 30th

This week during media children will be participating in a "Used Book Giveaway".  This means that your child will be able to choose two gently used books to add to their personal libraries at home.  It is important that students continue to read during spring break. After your child reads his or her book some questions you might ask your child are, "What was the problem in the story?" "How was the problem solved?" and/or "What did you learn from the book?"

Just a reminder, there is no school this Friday April 3rd.  I hope all our families have a fun, safe, and relaxing Spring Break.

Family Fun Night and Silent Auction

     No more worries about how to keep the kids busy this summer!  Come to the Mitchell Scarlett Family Fun Night and Silent Auction to bid on the "Summer Boredom Buster Bag"  This bag includes all you need for lots of summer adventures including "50 Things to Do This Summer", "Movie Reviews written by Ms. Padgen's Class", and much more!

This Week

Happy Spring! 

It feels good to have slightly warmer temperatures and more sunshine!  The kids have been enjoying spending time outside.  We are relearning some of our playground expectations such as: how to include a friend, how to play a game fairly, how to use the playground equipment safely, etc.  Please reinforce these ideas at home with your child.

Native American Experience
Gary Ghareeb will be joining us this Tuesday 1:45-2:45 in the library to share with us his knowledge of Michigan's First People.  Families are welcome to join us for this presentation.

Science Fair
The Mitchell Science Fair takes place Thursday 3/26 at 6:00 p.m.  Students who wish to participate in the science fair should bring their projects to school on Thursday morning.  Projects will be arranged along the hallways.  After the evening science fair students may take their projects home.

Mitchell Family Fun and Auction
This event takes place this Friday.  Check the blog later this week to see our class' contribution to the auction.

Week of March 9th

The warmer weather and sunshine this weekend as been a welcome relief from winter in Michigan.  I hope you were able to get outside and enjoy it.  As the weather continues to warm and the snow melts the playground will get quite muddy.  Please help keep our classroom clean by sending your child with rainboots or extra shoes for the playground.

This is an important fundraiser for our PTO.  Mark your calendar for a night of fun.  The money earned as a result of this event supports your child in the classroom with field trips, programs, and materials.  Stay tuned to see what our class will donate to the auction.
